Prayer Walking

What is Prayer Walking?

A very simple definition is to walk and pray in the places that you desire to see God’s power displayed.
This can be to bring transformation, to breakdown strongholds of the enemy, or to gain God’s perspective or insight…simply anywhere you want to see God’s mighty work done.  Prayer walking can be done anywhere you can walk and pray ….in or around homes, schools, churches, courtrooms, theaters, civic centers, etc.; neighborhoods, business districts, streets/roads, communities/towns,parks, playgrounds and even seats of government like city halls and courthouses.


How do you Prayer Walk?

On a path: To prayer walk you decide on a path. It may be in or around the outside of a building, up and down streets in neighborhoods or business districts, possibly some place up high enough that you can look over an entire community or a place where people gather. Prayer walking can be done in a home or building by walking room to room, floor to floor.
With a purpose: To prayer walk you must know your purpose. Is your goal to have insight into the needs of people, to see transformation come to those who live, work, play or worship in a specific place? Perhaps you want to breakdown strongholds of sin in a community or establish an atmosphere that is receptive to the working of the Holy Spirit. Once defined you are ready to go.


What is the Purpose and Path of our Prayer Walk?

Purpose: To prepare for revival.
Path: To saturate the entire TBC campus with prayer.
Outside the building: Parking lot, walkways, all doors (especially the front door)
Sanctuary: Pews (including balcony), podium/stage area, choir loft, altar, baptistry, orchestra: musicians & instruments, temperature/sound/lighting/electronics
Media Center: Cameras
Choir Room: Chairs, musicians/instruments
Education Areas:All LifeGroup tooms (Preschool,
Youth & Adult), A200/youth areas, fellowship areas, hallways, restroom




Give God Praise and Thanksgiving…

Praise God that he alone is able to bring about heart change.
“It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is our righteousness, holiness and redemption.” I Corinthians 1:30
Praise Him that nothing is impossible for Him.
“For nothing is impossible with God.” Luke 1:37
Thank Him that he can do more than we can ever imagine.
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Jesus Christ throughout all generations for ever and ever, Amen.”  Ephesians 3:20-21
Take hold of your God given authority...
Pray that we recognize the enemy and are secure in who our advocate is.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
Pray that every stronghold of the enemy will be broken.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.  On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.  We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” II Corinthians 10: 4-5
Take the God given authority to expose and dismiss ALL work of the enemy.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes…..take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Selected verses Ephesians 6:10-18



Pray for God to bring revival …

Ask that a Spirit of repentance will hover in our midst.
“When he (Holy Spirit) comes he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin, righteousness and judgement.” John 16: 8
Pray for God to open the heavens in sweeping revival bringing transformation & spiritual awakening to our church.
“…. if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”II Chronicles 7:14
“Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O Lord.  Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.”Habakkuk 3:2
“Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.” Revelation 2: 4-5
Pray that the lost will respond to Jesus as he draws them to himself.
Jesus said: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.” John 6:44
Pray that we, as the body of Christ, will be obedient in sharing the message of God’s love and redemption.
….“to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ Acts 26:18
Pray that we can genuinely demonstrate Christ’s love to all that enter our doors.
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”        1 John 3:18
Pray for our evangelist to be obedient in his proclamation of the Gospel.
“In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge:  Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction” II Timothy 4: 1&2
